Irvine's Chamber of Commerce held its annual Mayor's business breakfast several weeks ago, and it was fun to see the about 350 business people there to celebrate local economy success.

Mayor Kang appreciates local businesses and their contribution to growth and stability of local economy.

Irvine (3rd largest city in Orange County by population) has 215,000 residents and 18,000 businesses.

Irvine has lots more jobs (197,000) in the city than residents between ages of 18 and 65.

JOBS at Irvine - perhaps the top reason that so many people want to move to and live in this great community. Many of the jobs were in construction and sale of new homes. The Irvine Company sold almost 1,000 new homes at Woodbury and East Irvine during 2010.

Average sold price for those Irvine homes during 2010 was $679,388.

Buyers spent $1,385,272,132 to buy Irvine resale homes through the MLS during 2010.

That's right, buyers spent almost 1.4 billion dollars to buy Irvine resale homes last year.
