Pan Pacific International Swim Championships - at Irvine, CA - August 19 to 22, 2010
We'll be on our way to see the Pan Pacific international swim meet tomorrow on Thursday, Woollett Swim Center at Irvine, CA.
This PAN PACIFIC INTERNATIONAL SWIM CHAMPIONSHIPS event is huge, and held two years before and two years after Olympics years.

Michael Phelps will swim the 400-meter individual medley again and test himself at Pan Pacific Swim Championships, a five-day showdown (August 18 to 21, 2010) with stars from America, Australia, Japan, China, Brazil, Canada, South Africa and other nations.
Phelps won a record eight gold medals for the US swim team in the 2008 Beijing Olympics, including a 400 IM title with a world-record time of 4 minutes 3.84 seconds, but he hasn't competed in this event since then. He would also compete in the 100 and 200 butterfly at the Pan Pacs, is the defending 400 IM champion in the meet. The challenge for Phelps will be get through preliminaries and make the final in the 400 IM, while challenged by world's best and USA swimmers Ryan Lochte and Tyler Clary.

We expect huge crowds for this international event, possibly sold out for the last two nights, bringing lots of positive attention for the USA swimming program and Irvine community. Let's celebrate with and for these dedicated athletes.
