Foreclosure Filing Numbers Down in California & Orange County

CA foreclosures 

Foreclosure filings in California fell to the lowest level since the fall of 2008.

Notice of Default filings dropped 25.8% in California, and Notice of Trustee sale filings fell 10.9% from March 2011.

On a year-over-year basis foreclosure filings were down also, with Notice of Default filings down 28% percent and Notice of Trustee Sale filings down 31.2% as compared with April 2010.

Foreclosure sale cancellations in CA rose 27% from March 2011. 
 
Foreclosure auction sales in California also were down from prior month, with 17.2% fewer sales bank to the bank (REOs) and a 15.8% drop in properties purchased by 3rd party investors.
 
The average time to complete a property foreclosure in California continued to go up, increasing 3.3% to 312 days.

Orange County foreclosure filings and sales were also down.  Orange County, CANotice of default filings in April were down 26.9% from prior year.  Notice of foreclosure trustee sales at Orange County were also down 29.4% from same time last year.
