Government Policy Needed for Natural Hazard Relief Planning and Private Property Insurance Availability and Affordability

We need good government policy to plan for and support natural disaster relief and one that balances burden for property insurance coverage between the government and private property owners.

This according to Charles McMillan, former President of Realtor.org (National Association of Realtors who said he believes a working toward solution to insurance problems now facing this country must go beyond discussion of property insurance and include natural hazard government policy.

He's right.  Focus on insurance for private property should include better planning about US and local government response to natural disasters.

Better government planning would encourage property owners to consider and share balance of risk for property insurance coverage in areas with history of such disasters.
