More Fun Expected this year at Crystal Cove Cottages and California State Beach

More people are expected to enjoy the Crystal Cove State Park and its Historic District this year.

It's a 12.3-acre parcel owned by the state of CA and located among sandy cliffs, south of Newport Beach and north of Laguna.

Families vacationed in the huts and tents on the beach in the 1930s, and the state bought the private area in 1979 from the Irvine Company.  The cottages were old and run down, rented out and occupied until 2001, when the state took it back.

There are 46 cottages at Crystal Cove, and some have already been renovated.  Third phase renovation has started for 17 cottages on the north end.  Two of those will be complete this year and available for summer rental on a weekly basis.
