Irvine City Annual Memorial Day Celebration - May 30, 2011

Irvine's Memorial Day celebration 2011

Irvine's city leaders hosted their annual Memorial Day celebration at William Barber park and gardens on Monday, May 31.

It was a beautiful morning, and about 1,500 people attended, including active duty and veteran U.S. armed services men and women representatives.

Mayor Sukhee Kang served as master of ceremonies, and he was backed up by city council members Jeff Lalloway, Larry Agran, Beth Krom and Steve Choi.

Memorial day presentations were made by Don Wagner, CA Assemblyman from 70th district, and senior active duty and retired officers from the U.S. Army and U.S. Marine Corps.

Irvine, CA Hearty cheers were given for attending veterans of WWII, the Korean war, the war in Vietnam, and current wars in the Middle East regions.

Honor and respect was offered this day to the men and women of U.S. Armed services who gave their lives to protect us and our freedom. Memory of Michael Probst

Special recognition was made for the men and women from Irvine and Orange County who have given their lives.

2/11 Marine Corps adoption committeeIrvine's U.S. Marine Corps 2/11 battalion Adoption committee people were there to encourage help for families of the marines who will soon be deployed from Camp Pendleton to Afghanistan.

It was a good time for us to thank and show respect and honor for the amazing sacrifices made by men and women of our U.S. armed services.
